A branch of the North Carolina Museum of History, the Museum of the Cape Fear displays chronological exhibits tracing the history of a 20-county region from Native Americans to the early 20th century. Exhibits depicting early nineteenth century domestic life, the naval stores industry and transportation are also on display. It is located just west of downtown.
